Hello everyone - new member and new to vBulletin.

I have just been appointed a moderator position for a leading Ford Ranger Fan Forum and have been asked to help update the site using graphics. The owner/builder of the site uses Frontpage2000 for his layouts currently. I have some designs that I want to submit to him, such as a new header in a Web 2.0 style but he is unable to incorporate it. So far we have added a new logo (gif) and some new member group banner/bars that go under the member name. They are running version 3.6.8 vB.

What want to know - How can we upgrade the site using current software/editor/designer or whatever it is called. I can do the graphics, just need to get them into the site - how?

I hope that was clear enough - any help would be appreciated - thank you

Hiya, welcome to Themes by Design!

In order to get the graphics onto the site you need to familiarize yourself with the templates, the MainCSS, and StyleVars sections on the style. Best to do this using the vBulletin default style first.

I'm sure you know that the graphics have to be uploaded to the server via ftp. I have NO earthly idea how to incorporate them into Frontpage. I don't use it and don't recommend it for a vBulletin layout. Others here may disagree with that, and that's ok with me. :)

I know that I haven't been much help here. Perhaps one of our members will come along who can help more.

Thank You Peggy

I have used Dreamweaver myself and know "of" CSS and heard of the StyleVars but have not done any work with them. So I do not need to have a license for vB in order to do modifications? I have seen software for vB editors, but they require you to provide proof of ownership?
Thanks again - I will look into theose areas and see what I need to do to get this to work.

What do you mean by modifications? The graphics? Well, yes you do. Because you need to be able to see where each image goes, what size it needs to be, etc. You can't just make an image and expect it to "fit" somewhere.

I don't know about software for vB editors? I've never heard of that.

There's an entire Main CSS section for each style, as well as the style vars section. But you need access to a vBulletin administration control panel use them.

Ok - thanks again - not trying to become a designer or builder so to speak, just want to help update our forums with a new look. :)

Don't hesitate to ask if you have questions. :) That's what we're here for.

Perhaps you could talk the owner into giving you admin access to the styles section only.
