Peggy

Out Of The Box is a free vBulletin style that is designed for a business or professional-type forum, altho anyone is welcome to it!

This styles features -

a relocated navigation bar and login/member info
optimized for postbit_legacy
a side column for ads, links, affiliates, partners, etc.
valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional (http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tbdstyles.com%2Findex.p hp%3Fstyleid%3D38&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0)

PREVIEW (http://www.tbdstyles.com/index.php?styleid=38)

Click on the "Install" button on the right of this post, then download the zip file to your computer and extract it (I put it on my desktop, it's easier to remember where I put it!).
Open your ftp client to your server. Go to your forum's images folder, open it, and create a styles folder.
Next, upload the redbox folder via FTP to your server, into the styles folder, so that your image path is images/styles/redbox/buttons, for example.
After you've uploaded the folder, open your admin control panel on your forum, and import the xml file, by going to Styles & Templates > Download / Upload styles > Import Style XML File.
Click on the Browse button, locate the redbox-style.xml, and double-click it, so it loads in that box, then hit the Import button.

You'll find a blank images folder in the zip file, containing blank buttons and the logo for the header, all in PNG format for easy editing.

If you would like this style customized for your forum, please read here (http://www.themesbydesign.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1081).

NOTE: Don't forget to replace the Google Adsense code with your own. You'll find it in the navbar template, in the breadcrumb code.

The side column code is in the the FORUMHOME template, and clearly marked.
I have placed our affiliates ads and our partner links on the demo so that you can see how it looks. When you install this style, you'll see "Text Goes Here".

You also have alot of space to the right of the logo, in the header template, to place banner ads.

Enjoy! :rose:

The side column is in the forumhome template and is clearly marked. Whereever you see Test Goes Here, that's where you place your content.

If you don't want anything at all in that space, then in the navbar template find and delete -

<td class="alt2" nowrap="nowrap">
<div class="smallfont">
<div align="center">
<script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "pub-8226874484377949";
/* 468x60, created 9/7/08 */
google_ad_slot = "6648608946";
google_ad_width = 468;
google_ad_height = 60;
//-->
</script>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script>
</div>
</div>
</td>

IF however you do plan to replace the google code with your own code or something else, then you'll only delete this -

<script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "pub-8226874484377949";
/* 468x60, created 9/7/08 */
google_ad_slot = "6648608946";
google_ad_width = 468;
google_ad_height = 60;
//-->
</script>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script>

I installed the Out of box style.

I removed the Side column and put the Navabar to its default location.

The problem i'm having now is the CMPS right column is appearing in the middle under the forum instead of the right side. How do i fix that? This is the link to that Style on my forum:
http://www.shiftslow.com/forum.php?styleid=34

Peggy

I have no idea how to fix that, I'm sorry. You can try reverting all of the templates, if there are any left to revert. I've never had a problem with my styles working with vBA.

Peggy, the "revert all templates" worked like a champ. Thanks alot!

theme looks great, but after adding the skin, the additional navbar menus which were installed with the plugins don't get added up automatically ?
I have ibproarcade and vB Credits, both have navbar links and another addon too.

Peggy
03-16-2009, 08:58 AM
Nope, you'll have to add them manually.

kindude
03-17-2009, 07:16 AM
so this makes TMS useless ?

Peggy
03-17-2009, 09:29 AM
I have no idea. I'm not familiar with TMS since I prefer to add my links manually. You'd have to ask about that on the TMS support thread.

Probably why it's not working is that the navbar for this style is located in the header.

Mind naming the font you used in the header?

Thank's m'lady! LB

The font is called LetMeGo

Hi 'ya Peggy ... have a quick question for you. The default VB style has a new option in a post where you can 'blog this post'. For the life of me, I can not determine where I should place a new button in the style. Can you help me out on that?

Many thanks. LB

Peggy
03-25-2009, 11:26 AM
Is it a postbit button, like the edit, quote, quickreply, etc?

Lima Bean

yes it is, positioned on the same row. Apologies, should have mentioned that.

Peggy

tbh, I haven't heard of this being a part of in the default vBulletin style. Are you sure it is in vB or is it a blog add-on feature?

At any rate, the button would go in the postbit or postbit_legacy (whichever one you use) template. Look for -
<if condition="$show['quickreply'] AND !$show['threadedmode']">
<a href="$post[replylink]" rel="nofollow" id="qr_$post[postid]" onclick="return false"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/quickreply.gif" alt="$vbphrase[quick_reply_to_this_message]" border="0" /></a>
</if>and place the code for the button after that.

Hi Peggy. I wasn't very clear in my message. I should have stated it this way -

when you install the vBlog system into your installation of vBulletin, the blog adds a little icon in the message posts that allow a user to click and then blog about the message that was posted. Unfortunately, the custom styles I am using don't carry over the icon.

I hope that was clear as mud :rolleyes:

Thanks for the reply! Always nice to visit with you.

The dreaded Lima Bean.

Peggy
03-25-2009, 02:08 PM
ooooooooooooohhhhh... ok I gotcha. No, none of the custom styles will have the button or icon. I don't make one because I don't have the blog. I don't even know what the icon looks like.

One would have to be made and uploaded to the buttons folder (I'm assuming?) for the style. The instructions for the blog should tell you how to install that icon in a custom style.

Ok, now I am officially feeling stupid and I profusely apologize for wasting your time ... all one needs to do is make sure they upload the blog images into the style they are using and the little icon loads as it is supposed to do. I had failed to load the blog images so it was not showing.

Again, I apologize for being a bonehead!

Peggy,

How hard would it be to move the member info back up to where you have the google ad info and remove the left side panel?

.......as you might have noticed from my first two posts, I'm getting ready to finally upgrade to Vbulletin and I'm searching for my first few themes. ;)

I'm liking the 'Let's Talk' & 'Outside the Box', but I'd like for them to be very similiar in layout.

I look forward to working with your templates and hearing back.

Thanks!!

Peggy
04-11-2009, 11:36 AM
Outside the box is just a bunch of template edits Randy. I moved the navigation bar to the header template, and then played with the navbar template to place the google code there.

We would remove the left side column from the forumhome template, then revert the navbar template. This would put the member info back where it goes. It will also give you another navigation bar. So if you want to leave the one I have on top, you'd just remove the navbar code from the template. If you want the navbar to be back where it is by default then you'd leave it there, and remove the navbar code from the header template.

Clear as mud? lol

Thanks, Peggy!

I'm going to attempt to make the template edits.

I have the design successfully installed and even changed the Google adsence area, using a rotating banner code that I use and it worked flawlessly.

Also, I read here that Chris is not feeling well. I've not talked with him in sometime and hope you'll pass on that I'm asking that God place a healing hand onto whatever is ailing Chris.

Thank you for your time, effort and awesome design work that you put into your site here. You truly are a gem!

Randy

Dear Peggy & staff, :wave:

I really need your assistance, either you or someone who can help. I have requested a few times now, and I did get one reponse, but only after some time. I need to use this mod (Out of the Box) and have a few "hopefully easy" changes, just to be different than 912forum.com.

I am a paying customer, for the install and customization of this mod. I need someone to install my 3.8.4 patch 1 on my domain. I need to include all tasks listed on your site. Especially I need the dB done.

After that, I need the color and icons changes. Maybe load some of the better smiles. I bought into version 4's pre-sales. So, I will get the Publisher Suite and will need more work done. I will want to install it in a test area, so I will need advisment at that time on how and where to do this. After testing, then the real work can be done, only if it passes though. I will be going all the way with it and if you and your staff are up to it, I will seek your work.

This project is behind and I need to get it up on the domain ASAP. I have a number of members waiting to see it and begin to work. We have been accumulating content and are ready to fill it. You offer an affordable price for these tasks as I am taking funding from my personal budget. When I have started and all is going well, my members will start be donating to support the site.

So, please respond at my personal email as soon as possible. I need to know if you will except my business. If not, I can then search elsewhere. Please realize, I am busy with my end here, and I cannot keep checking here for responses. Besides I seem to get distracted easily with content collection.

Have a great day, :thanks:

*** ****** :cool:

PS. My domain is American-Hope.net I have it parked right now, awaitng your help, hopefully.
