Serious problem

I was tring to install vbportal on vbulletin and some files I overwrite of vb by vbportal.
And now my site is not opening.
What should I do?
How should I restore my site? I also haven't backedup.

Please help.

I am sorry I can not help you with your problem as I do not run vbportal. It is a shame that it looks like you have learnt the hard way about the importance of making regular backups.

I agree. Always ALWAYS back up your db before installing or changing anything at all.
I don't run vbPortal either Mammu. You'll have to ask about this at their forum.

Learnt a big lesson there..............but never the late.

I learned that one te hard way too. Luckily my site was not up yet....

Back up your database before making any forum changes. That way, you can restore anything you might whack with the changes.

That all depends on how lucky you feel. If you know nothing can possibly go wrong with your site today, then there's little need for a back-up. However, if there is a remote chance something could go wrong...

We're not talking about anything but your forum. No email, no filter, nothing but the forum.

You can choose to do a db backup only, or a full site backup.

the MySQL database is your forums' datebase, yes. That's what you need a backup of, on a regular basis - I do one about twice a week.

I also do a full site backup at least twice a month.

'Scuse me, whilst I go kick myself for not having that add-on installed. :blush: It took all of about 5 minutes to get it installed and run a back-up, so I really had no excuse for not using it before now. And there will be no more of the guilty feelings for overlooking the daily backup, from now on.

I don't know if you've installed it yet, but it is a piece of cake and works great.

I always tried to do back-ups every other day. But then I would forget and it would be 3-4 days. If I didn't forget again, that is. Now, I don't have to worry about it. :yay:

Mammu, this one is really easy to install and if you follow the simple directions included in the download, you don't need to know how to use it. It uses itself.

As a friendly suggestion, have you considered you may be in a situation where you will be better off paying someone to manage your forum for you? Installing hacks without a rudimentary understanding of what they are about can quickly get you into trouble.
