Adding additional styles - Question

My question is, when adding new styles, why don't my plug ins/product add ins work? Do the additional styles need to be child of the default?

In order for the additional styles to take on the template edits of your modifications, the styles need to be child styles of the style you've already done the edits to.

However, that can be a problem. Sometimes when your parent style has a centered header, and the child style has a left-aligned header, it will be centered. This can sometimes throw the entire style off, especially if we're talking about a skin that has custom/special coding.

I personally recommend limiting your styles to a default, plus 2 additional styles. Make them all parents and do the edits. This keeps the styles intact.
