vertigo 10-31-2007, 11:02 AM Hey there peggy, I love your work, Im new to the vbulletin world. I created a forum for mama's. I am currently using your brand new wine theme... what do I need to do for this request?
Our community name is "Hot Mom's Hangout" Kinda wanting something to go "with" the theme itself with the scripty look, but sexy i guess. does that make sense? lol thanks hun.
-Angela
Peggy 10-31-2007, 03:10 PM hmmmm I'm not sure how "sexy" would look, or how i could achieve it, as this is a more "romantic" theme. I do have script fonts I can use for the header image. If you have any ideas on sexy let me know.
vertigo 10-31-2007, 03:16 PM lol no prob there is a file of a womans sexy back in jeans I have. I think romantic is just fine. here's the file I would like to see somewhere. if not, again no big deal.
Peggy 10-31-2007, 03:34 PM hmmmm that would be really hard to use unless I can somehow cut out the background color around her. I can try and let you know.
Is this anything like the banner you want?
Peggy 10-31-2007, 05:59 PM Doc that is NICE! Very good job, thank you. ;)
vertigo 10-31-2007, 11:41 PM Ohhhh la la... I likey... Let me see how it will look up there. how do i put it into the area. save file then find file and transfer ftp to images?
brb
Don't forget to either rename the banner I made to the same name as the existing banner or change the banner name in admincp.
Chris 11-01-2007, 06:23 AM Nice job Doc. :D
Nice job Doc. :D
Thanks Chris. I have done an alternative version with flames at the top of the text and shiny letters.
vertigo 11-01-2007, 10:58 AM So, help...
I could probably figure it out eventually, but to get it to show up on my forum what are the steps I should do? I wanna make sure I do it the right way. I love both of them!!
vertigo 11-01-2007, 11:45 AM ok so I tried, and now i have no banner showing. :(
dangit.
Peggy 11-01-2007, 11:55 AM Ok whatever name this image has, you'll have to go into the header template and change the name of the image. The current header image is named header_left_blank2.jpg. SO the easiest thing for you to do is change the name of Doc's image to header_left_blank2 and upload it to images/wine/misc/ and save.
That should be all you need to do
vertigo 11-01-2007, 01:43 PM you rock peggy ! I will try it now.
Did you get it sorted Vertigo? Which banner did you end up using
vertigo 11-02-2007, 09:42 AM well... depending on the way you surf the web. Ie. it looks liek poo all red x's everywhere. and the top banner is stretched up high.
now with firefox, things look good, except i see no banner at all. so it's hard to say if it is working. poo!! :( www.HotMomsHangout.com (http://www.HotMomsHangout.com)
I have had a look at your forum using both IE and Firefox, the problem I think is the location of the graphics files (banner and icons) on your server. I will leave it to Peggy to give you the correct location for the images.
Chris 11-02-2007, 10:45 AM Yes as Doc mentioned above. You need to upload your wine folder into your images folder for the images to show up. It looks as as if you have only imported the wine styles XML file only.
Peggy 11-02-2007, 11:01 AM none of it is showing up for me in either IE or Firefox.
none of it is showing up for me in either IE or Firefox.
Same here Peggy, only it is more visible in IE as this puts thred x where the graphics should be while Firefox just ignores the missing graphics.
edit by Doc
Peggy in an earlier reply you suggested the banner I did should be renamed - this could lead to a problem as I saved the image as a .png file so I think the best option would be to rename in the CP to reflect the fact that it is a .png not a .jpg file :)
vertigo 11-02-2007, 12:16 PM yeah what I did was remove the entire style and start over.
So Doc, Rename the file to a jpg file. I had that thought in the back of my head. but ignored it again. lol Let me try that again.
and the image folder under public_html /images/images or?? be back.
Peggy 11-02-2007, 12:40 PM Doc, that would be absolutely fine. She just has to change the name of the image in the header template, as I instructed, not in the StyleVars.
Vertigo, if this is going to be your main (default) theme, then yes, upload the images NOT the wine folder, but the images INSIDE the wine folder, to public_html/images/
In other words, upload the buttons, misc, statusicon folders to the images folder, be sure to overwrite the existing folders. You really don't have to worry about the other folders such as icons, smilies, rating, reputation, etc, because if you're using this as your default theme, then those folders/images are already there.
Anymore questions, just holler.
madmax1228 04-12-2008, 01:52 PM Don't forget to either rename the banner I made to the same name as the existing banner or change the banner name in admincp.
Perhaps one of you can answer the question. I am photoshop illiterate, but my team member created a banner (s) no matter what I do, I lose resolution when I try to plug it into the web page located at www.blackvertmafia.com (http://www.blackvertmafia.com) and it's driving me crazy!!!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I ahve it in laft and right elements as well as LLLooonnngg verson that I tried to compress to no avail.:witsend:
Peggy 04-12-2008, 02:24 PM Unfortunately, in jpg format some of the resolution is lost. Had the original images been saved in png format, would have been much better.
you have a left and right image, but the long image is almost completely different. which would you rather use, the left and right images? or the long one, sliced up?
madmax1228 04-12-2008, 02:40 PM I tied to cut a chunk out of the long one and ended up with a blurry image. I was not aware that it should be saved in .png
Looks good now....simple solutions to complex problems.....thanks!!!
Peggy 04-12-2008, 02:42 PM png's are larger in file size, but in my opinion, I'd rather not sacrifice image quality for the sake of smaller file size.
But that's just me...
