A sleek, professional style in earthy, "woodland" tones.

LIVE DEMO (http://www.vbimpressions.com/forums/index.php?styleid=26)

Download the zip file to your computer.
upload the woodland folder into your forum/images directory, so that the image path is images/woodland
Import the xml by going to your ACP --> styles and templates --> download/upload styles --> browse --> select the xml file where you have it save on your computer --> import
Please remember to leave my copyright link in the footer unless you purchase my branding free license.

Enjoy!

Love it Peggy!
How do I change the header/logo?

Peggy
11-14-2006, 01:32 PM
Cher, how do you want to change it? There's a blank header in the zip file. But if you'd like for me to add your forum name to it, I can do that.

Cher

I did it but not sure i like it LOL
check out www.lgpphotographers.com/forum (http://www.lgpphotographers.com/forum)

I have to upload the woodland file folder into the gallery also to get those images in there, wonder why that is? or is it normal?

Cher

Can't seem to get the logo/header into the gallery tho. My head hurts LOL!! too much to think about :)

Peggy

I have no idea what gallery you're talking about?

Cher
11-14-2006, 02:56 PM
sorry, my gallery on my site that's connectd with the forum.

Peggy
11-14-2006, 03:05 PM
ok. You'd have to ask the coder of the gallery how to get the graphics to show up in it hun. I didn't code it, and don't know how it runs, so I wouldn't know how get the graphics to show up. sorry :(

What resolution do you use Cher? I use 1024 x 768. When I go to your forum, the header (on woodland) is WAY wide, and I have to scroll from left to right to see everything.

Other than that, you did a nice job on it ;)

Cher

I'm on a 24" monitor, how can I get that smaller? Just do a smaller header/logo?
Thanks Peggy, I love your work, very easy to work with :)
You working on more styles?

Peggy
11-14-2006, 03:16 PM
oh wow, I'm on a 17" monitor. I would make the header no wider than 700, since you have ad banners up there.

I'm starting work on a custom style tomorrow. I also have a Christmas style going.
PLUS, I've spent the past 2 days upgrading others' forums to the 3.6.3 version. lol

Wheweee!

You already paid Peggy to remove her link?

Peggy
02-18-2007, 02:13 AM
ummmm nope.

obx, I'll be glad to customize the header for you. However, you must leave my copyright and link in the footer of the style, unless you purchase the right to remove it, which you have not yet done.

Thanks

I uploaded everything and left as is. I never removed your link. If it is supposed to be there I will give you admin acess to my site if you wish. I will look to see if I did something wrong, but when I did the upload by xml it said it was for vb 3 something and I am running vb3.4 could this be it? I just redid the upload from xml and it is not showing up.

Peggy
02-18-2007, 10:26 AM
hmmm that's very odd. As you can see, it's in the footer of this site on that style. I'm using 3.6.4 on this site, so that wouldn't be the problem.

I dont need access to your acp. You can do this yourself ;)

Go into the Woodland style's footer template and find this:

<div align="center">
<div class="smallfont" align="center">
<!-- Do not remove this copyright notice -->
$vbphrase[powered_by_vbulletin]
<!-- Do not remove this copyright notice -->
</div>

<div class="smallfont" align="center">
<!-- Do not remove $cronimage or your scheduled tasks will cease to function -->
$cronimage
<!-- Do not remove $cronimage or your scheduled tasks will cease to function -->

$vboptions[copyrighttext]
</div>
</div>

replace with this:

<div align="center">
<div class="smallfont" align="center">
designed and © by <a href="http://www.themesbydesign.net">Themes By Design</a><br />
<!-- Do not remove this copyright notice -->
$vbphrase[powered_by_vbulletin]
<!-- Do not remove this copyright notice -->
</div>

<div class="smallfont" align="center">
<!-- Do not remove $cronimage or your scheduled tasks will cease to function -->
$cronimage
<!-- Do not remove $cronimage or your scheduled tasks will cease to function -->

$vboptions[copyrighttext]
</div>

thank you!

Now - let me know when you want me to do that header for you

</div>

I did it that was easy, why didnt it show up when I did the xml? Now I have 3 woodland themes and it wint let me allow the delte of 2 of them cause it says it is a parent style. I will figure it out. For the header all I want it to say is

Outer Banks Forums

Thanks again

Peggy

I have no idea, but I'm going to download the xml again and replace the one in the zip.

I'll have your header for you later this afternoon, hope that's ok :)

OH... you said you have 3 Woodland installs?? Be sure that you fixed the header for the parent style, and delete the child styles.

Thanks peggy your great, hey I am originaly from Vermilion Ohio and moved here to the outer banks. Did you see my question on the cutom theme? Something nice and beachy. Dolphins are real popular down here, I am in search of a design like that. Also I need a logo for my forum bad. Thank you again.

Peggy
02-18-2007, 10:52 AM
opps no, I didn't see it. I'm swamped right now with custom skins, but I'll get back to you in a few days, ok?

We'll work on a logo as well.

I do charge for both of those ;)

I made the blank "header.jpg", added my boards name, saved, uploaded. The board is still seeing the "sample_header.gif". How do I tweak the code to make it see the "header.jpg"?

Peggy
02-20-2007, 05:35 PM
ut oh - was I supposed to do that for you and forgot?? :(

Go into the Woodland styles' StyleVars section, and change the image name in the title area.

acp > styles & templates > style manages > Woodland > stylevars
scroll down to Image Paths, and the first one you come to is the Title Image. Edit the name of your image.

Oh gosh, sorry - no I hadn't asked you to do this. It's a free skin that you graciously shared and I figured it was easy enough for me to open a JPG and add a board name. I just couldn't resave as a GIF from a JPG because it looked like junk. Anyhow .... thanks for the info. I'll go see if I can learn this tweaky thing. ;)

Thanks!

I've got a minor prob with your copyright info on this skin. This is what I see ... okay I can't upload the graphic. I'll have to tell you.

Here your skins show:

See the way the "Themes by Design" runs into the powered by? Not sure if it's a big deal ... but I noticed it today. Again, if you'll tell me what to adjust, I'll do it. :)

Peggy

Thank you dear for noticing that. That is odd indeed.

If you will, please do the following:

go into your acp > Styles & Templates > Style Manager.
On the right, for Woodland, beside All Style Options, click on Go.
On the next page, 3rd box down, is the contents of the footer template.

Now, using the box's own little scroll bar, scroll down in that box about halfway. You'll come to this section:

<div class="smallfont" align="center">
designed by <a href="http://www.themesbydesign.net"><b>Themes By Design</b></a><!-- Do not remove this copyright notice -->
$vbphrase[powered_by_vbulletin]
<!-- Do not remove this copyright notice -->
</div>

This is what that should look like:

<div class="smallfont" align="center">
designed by <a href="http://www.themesbydesign.net"><b>Themes By Design</b></a> <br>
copyright © 2007, all rights reserved
<br /><br />
<!-- Do not remove this copyright notice -->
$vbphrase[powered_by_vbulletin]
<!-- Do not remove this copyright notice -->
</div>

So, if you would, please, after the </a> and before the <!, just add this missing bit of code
<br>
copyright © 2007, all rights reserved
<br /><br />

Thank you for looking out for me! If you have any problems with it, just holler.

Just installed this one as my second skin at www.thamesvalleybirds.co.uk Peggy, makes a nice contrast with your Country Comfort style I use as the main one. :)

Thanks. :)

Peggy

You didn't turn it on darlin, it's not showing in your stylechooser

rolfw
03-21-2007, 03:56 AM
Yes I did Peggy, you may be looking at a Cached version of my site, I always monitor my changes on a second PC with a non-admin status user id to make sure they are working. ;)

Peggy
03-21-2007, 06:40 AM
That's very odd. It's still not showing. And I've never, ever had a problem with seeing an uploaded/installed skin immediately.

I'm guessing that if I don't see it, other people don't either. :)

rolfw

I tested with a couple of friends and they all saw the changes Peggy, very strange. Perhaps it's just one of these quirky cache situations. :)

I had an odd situation a couple of months back when I first pointed the domain at the DNS servers, one computer saw the site, but the other didn't, yet they are both using the same router. :)

Are you seeing the header below?

http://www.thamesvalleybirds.co.uk/images/cc/misc/headersample.gif

Peggy
03-21-2007, 01:05 PM
Yep I see the header in your post.

I've had the DNS situation before. Pretty quirky. Thng is, the skin title isn't even showing up in your style chooser. At least, not for me, and I'm betting not for plenty of others. All I see is Country Comfort and Fall Days. There were three, so you must have removed one. So then I have to ask, why would I see that one has been removed, almost immediately, and still not see the Woodland added?

It'll straighten itself out eventually, I'm sure.

:blush: Well I'll be, I must be on the wrong pills today :eek: either that or I'm going mad. :hide2:

I downloaded both Woodland and Fall Days, I meant to install Woodland, but obviously did Fall Days instead, :banghead: have now installed Woodland as well, I'd already uploaded it to the server. http://www.thamesvalleybirds.co.uk/images/smilies/conf44.gif

Sorry for wasting your time folks, I'll put it down to old age, please accept my apologies for being an idiot. http://www.thamesvalleybirds.co.uk/images/smilies/flowers.gif

Having said all of that, the reason for the first post was to say that the styles are great and make a superb suite for my forum, really glad I found this site. :)

ambyglam, please allow me to apologize, I didn't see this post. I've been out sick for a couple of weeks, and am trying to get back up to speed here, but having a difficult time doing so.

If you still need help, please PM me. Otherwise, I will be writing a tutorial - in baby steps, lol - on how to install my themes.

But do not mistake my tute as a "how-to" on how to install all vB styles. Only how to install mine.

:)

Okay, kiddo. I've used this skin (as well as ... ummm ... don't tell me ... I'll remember) ... oh yeah ... Woodland, Country Comfort and Fall Days since I first opened my board. They are the favs of my members.

I downloaded the upgrades (gads, I've been running some old version and I'm so tired of the alerts in the admin panel) ... anyhow, do I upload *everything* again, or simply upload the xml file?

One other question, I like to do a custom banner (which I change every week or so) for my board. Right now, to get all the different skins to see it, I have to upload it for every skin in their folders. Is there a way to have them all see the same copy of the banner? It sure would be easier for me.

Peggy
04-12-2008, 05:48 PM
Sure. Whereever it is that you have the banner uploaded on your server, for eash theme, point the image path to there.

What version of vB are you running? Unless you've upgraded to 3.7, the images haven't changed any, so you can just import the xml, overwriting the old one.

mrsmac1974
04-12-2008, 08:44 PM
I'm running 3.6.8.

Image path ... okay, that's where I get lost. I'll dink with it and see if I can figure it out. It's not like making an html page, and yet it is ...

Thanks for the quick response.

EDITED TO SAY ... I figured out the image path thingy. :)
