I was just thinking that Peggy is talented. All the other skins I have seen before in different places can not compare to Peggy's styles. I didn't download any yet, but soon I am going to.

I don't have a forum, but If I did, i know exactly where to go look for skins. By the way Peggy, need a banner?:blush:

I think 'comfort' was a good word to use in the name for this one.

Some styles are really edgy and in-your-face (which is not all bad, by any means), but so many of Peggy's have a comforting feel about them. I prefer that a member feel relaxed and comfortable on my sites.

I suffer AADD and there are some sites that are just so 'busy', with respect to graphics and forum lay-out, they trigger my ADD. Those are not enjoyable forum experiences for me, personally.

Which is exactly why I'm thinking about a "warmer" skin for this site. the new gold and teal on white is a bit bright, even for me.

Hey Mike, I agree with you. I want my members to feel relaxed, and at the same time not to fall asleep. And sometimes it depends on the audience.
But I noticed that after Peggy's styles, if I see a forum that doesn't have a style, just vb regular blue style, I don't want to read it or be a part of it. Color matters so much.

Hi Peggy, have a small problem with using the quick reply when using this skin, it send the information after clicking the Post Quick Reply button, but does not open the new page, firefox shows "stopped" in the bar at the bottom.

When I use the back button a couple of times and refresh, the post is there though. Any ideas? :)


Sorry, looks like my tech admin Chris sorted it whilst I was posting this thanks Peggy, it was the Google adsense code causing the problem. :)

forums/images/styles

Yours are to be loose in my images folder. Is this simply a designers preference?

Hi Peggy, got a small problem which is probably self induced, I tried a template mod to put signatures in a fieldset box "postbit_legacy" Country Comfort, but it didn't work, now my sig only shows on one post, did get rid of the dividing line though. :)

I may not have restored the template exactly to its original.

If I give you an access, could you have a peek for me please? :)

Oh yikes. I've never tried a fieldset around a signature.

Thanks Peggy. Don't worry about that, I have removed the mod, but possibly either not all of it, or have removed a bit in the template which I shouldn't have, it is really to compare your version of the Country Comfort template with mine, to see if there is anything which stands out.

In fact, if you haven't got any mods in your postbit_legacy, then a zipped copy of the template would probably help me and I could try substituting it for the one I have, we are both running the same vb version. :)

Think I may have partly solved it Peggy, seems that it is appearing on new posts, but not old posts. :)

This is my fav (to date) of your designs, and I have it running as my choice on my forum. Today I noticed that your copyright info isn't showing up. :confused:

I don't have any hacks installed and the only thing I did was add my forum name to the header, so I'm not sure why the copyright info isn't there. Would this be in the xml file? Where might I look? I'll adjust whatever if you'll tell what and where and all that. :)

this copyright thing is one of the reasons for the latest vB version upgrade. The xml files seemed to be doing funky things during upload.

This is the skin that I massacred in the download/upload last night.

I'd like to give it a try again but I'm afraid...afraid...lol.

What I'd really like to do is pay you to download it for me so that I can go in to my cpanel on my site and see what the file should look like in there so that perhaps I don't louse up a second time in the future...lol. Knocked the wind right out of my little ego last night trying this. :giggle:

But I'll ask the question first...because when I downloaded it all, I had the background but no icons or images anywhere when I tried to use it. All I had was the two tone colored background. And for the life of me, I have no idea how I got it back to my usual skin because I thought I'd wiped it out too in the process but as you could tell by the time I emailed you in a panic last night, it was fixed.

Soooo, when I upload the cc file to my cpanel forum images area, should the little icon beside the file name look like a zipped up yellow folder, a plain yellow folder or a little piece of white paper? LOL...I tried it with all three so I don't know at what stage I should be uploading it at or if I even have done it right at all.

I know i had the same problem, Peggy did it for me. There must be something we are doing wrong.

upload cc into your forum/images directory. JUST the yellow folder with everything in it. So them you should see in your ftp file path forum (or forums, whichever you have it named)/images/cc/names of folders (such as attach, buttons, icons, misc, stausicon, etc.)

Then you have to import the XML file in the admin CP.

If you still need help, I can do it for you later this afternoon, say around 4pm est

This skin is as fixed as it gets dear. You can change the width of the forum but not the header. It is fixed at a width of 800.

So can the forum be set to 800 then? Sorry, not too up on skin design and operation.:)

That's ok. Unless you changed the forum width when you installed country confort, it should be set at 800. It is here.

Liz need a link to your site to see what you're talking about. I must be tired, as I'm not following you here.Unfortunately you won't be able to see it on my site because I haven't figured out how to do it yet.

On the bottom left hand corner of YOUR site, you have a drop down box titled: Quick Style Chooser. It lists all the skins you have available, and guests or members of your site can chose a skin and check out the forums, threads, and posts in that skin.

If I enable my Quick Style Chooser (on my site) the members can select the skin of their choice, but it only appears on the main page. If they go into a forum, thread or post, the skin changes to whatever was there before (not necessarily the one they would prefer to see).

What do I have to set in the AdminCP so that members can choose the skin of their choice, and still be able to see it no matter where they are on the board? I am not sure I can be any clearer than that.

Make sure that you have all the images uploaded to the correct directory, and check the image path in the style's StyleVars section.

i like the country comfort style and i think, i use it as a base for a more site-specific style. The Theme will then be: "Oase" (english: oasis) with palms and so on.

ok anyone know how to make the vbadvanced work with the themes?

Go into your acp > Styles & templates > cc > stylevars.

In the image paths for all of the image folders, you'll need to type in your entire website path. Yours would be
htt p://www.forumaddress.com/forum/images/cc/buttons
ht tp://www.forumaddress.com/forum/images/cc/misc
htt p://www.forumaddress.com/forum/images/cc/statusicon

and so forth. You'll need to then go into the Main CSS section of the style and do the same thing with the tcat, popup menu, etc.
