vBulletin 3.7.2

As promised last week (http://www.themesbydesign.net/forums/showthread.php?p=1582084#post1582084), today sees the scheduled release of a maintenance version for vBulletin 3.7.x.

vBulletin 3.7.2 contains only bug fixes, details of which can be found in the bug tracker (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/projectsearch.php?do=dosearch&projectid[0]=6&issuetypeid[0]=bug&addressedmix[addressedversion][0]=77&sort=lastpost&sortorder=desc).

The security fixes included in vBulletin 3.7.1 PL1 (http://www.themesbydesign.net/forums/showthread.php?t=274882) and PL2 (http://www.themesbydesign.net/forums/showthread.php?t=275889) are also included in vBulletin 3.7.2.

Upgrading from Previous Versions

3.7.2 is a maintenance release. We recommend that all customers running prior versions of vBulletin 3.7 upgrade to benefit from bug fixes and stability improvements.

Full instructions for upgrading vBulletin are available here. (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/upgrade)

PHP and MySQL Requirements

Please note that vBulletin 3.7.x requires at least PHP 4.3.3 and MySQL 4.0.16 or later.

However, we recommend that vBulletin 3.7.x is run on PHP 5.2.6 with APC (or a similar opcode cache) and MySQL 5.0.51 for best performance and stability.

End of Life for PHP 4

The PHP group has announced the end of life for PHP 4. We strongly recommend that customers update their servers to PHP 5.2.6 if they are still running PHP 4. vBulletin 3.7.x supports PHP 5 without any problems, though you may need to disable strict mode for MySQL, see here (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/editconfig) on how to enable 'force_sql_mode'.

Note: We will continue to support PHP 4 in the vBulletin 3 series.

Download vBulletin 3.7.2

As usual, vBulletin 3.7.2 is available for all customers with valid, active licenses to download from the vBulletin Members' Area.

All 3.7 themes have been upgraded to 3.7.2 :)

How important is it to install a 3.7.2 skin if you've already got the 3.7.0 skin installed? I use a lot of mods that require a lot of edits to every skin so I'd hate to have to do that all over again if I don't have to. ;)

Welp, I always recommend upgrading the forum, so of course I'm going to advise you to upgrade yours to 3.7.2. However, I think that as long as you applied the patches that were released, you should be ok, and of course you won't need to upgrade the theme you're using.

I meant how important is it to update a skin, not the forum. Like if I have 3.7.0 with 3.7.0 skins installed, and then I upgrade to 3.7.2, do I need to upgrade my skins to the 3.7.2 versions. That's what I was asking. I always upgrade my forum. :) I do know that the admin cp complains that you need to revert your templates, but I'm never sure if it's really imperative to upgrade a skin.

I know what you were saying. My reply is no, if you're not upgrading your forum to 3.7.2, then you don't need to upgrade your theme. However if you do upgrade your forum, then yes you need to upgrade the theme, as there are important additions to the templates.

:)
