Shiny Beige - a professional beige and red theme with a slight 'web 2.0' feel.

"Shiny Beige" features:

separated/spaced forum categories
XHTML 1.0 Transitional (http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tbdstyles.com%2Findex.p hp%3Fstyleid%3D4&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0)
90% original images

PREVIEW (http://www.tbdstyles.com/index.php?styleid=4)

Click on the "Install" button on the right of this post, then download the zip file to your computer and extract it (I put it on my desktop, it's easier to remember where I put it. I do suggest moving the zip after installation to a folder on your computer so you have it as a back-up - just in case ;) ).
Open your ftp client to your server. Go to your forum's images folder, open it, and create a styles folder.
Next, upload the beige folder via FTP to the styles folder that you created, so that your image path is images/styles/beige/buttons, for example.
After you've uploaded the images, open your admin control panel on your forum, and import the xml file, by going to Styles & Templates > Download / Upload styles > Import Style XML File.
Click on the Browse button, locate the beige-style.xml file, and double-click it so that it loads in that box, then hit the Import button.

If you have any questions, or run into any snags, please post your question here, do not PM me. You may be helping someone else as well. ;)

If you need me to customize the logo image for you, I do now charge a small fee to do so.

Enjoy! :D

** For those of you who use the Thanks modification from vBulletin.org, I've attached the 'Thanks' button separately. Just right-click and Save As.

NOTE: It's been brought to my attention that there is a security token error popping up when you click 'Go Advanced' on the Quick Reply editor. I have fixed this error, and added a new xml file to the download zip file.

If you use this style, please download the new zip file and re-import the xml, overwriting the existing one.

Thanks!

I love this peggy and I think its the look that I've been looking for!! One thing tho.... do you have it with the 'standard' vbulletin post graphics??? :D

I've also had another thought, will it be ok with vblog and how will it effect the blog layout??

Paul you have all of the default vBulletin graphics. Open your ftp and go to the images folder that your new styles folder sits in. Those are all of your default vb images. If you want to use those, just copy them from their folder, to the same folder in the beige directory.

By vblog, I assume you're talking about the vBulletin blog? It should work with it just fine.

thanks i sussed all that out re the post icons etc and modified accordingly (i was really chuffed as i'm crap at stuff like that!) then struggled uploading it all for a few hours :o then with baited breath went to install it, hesitated then hit the button! only to have a message saying it was for a different version or something!! (i'm running 3.7.3) arrrggghhhh ! :(

I haven't had time to update the xml for the themes here yet. All you need to do is import the xml again, and where it says Ignore Style Version, click yes, then click Import.

Thanks sussed that out and uploaded successfully. Got another couple of teething problems to sort out tho... lost the blog button on the top for one and the post icons aren't there i've now just got a red x.... hmmm I'll update as i go along for anyone else who's as new to this as me! :D

ok which post icons are you talking about? The forum status icons? or the post icons beneath the text editor

yamahapaul

sussed it out!! when i uploaded the files i manually created the new folders and when i did the folder for 'statusicon' i named it 'status icon' with a space... once i renamed and removed the space it worked!! next glitch is i can't figure out how to remove your shiny beige banner in the top left and replace it with my banner hmmm

Simply edit the blank banner with your site name, name it the same as the current header, and upload it to the misc folder, overwriting the one that's there.

You should not have had to go through all that trouble. I've never had a design where someone's had to do that. Very odd.

well I've solved my header problem by reverting but now lost all my links across the top as a result!! :o

All of your links where? You should not have had to revert the template. All you had to do is rename the header image as I said above.

Does the theme include the thanks button for the thank you hack?

Peggy

No it doesn't but I'll make one and attach it to the first post.

Hi there Peggy!

I absolutely love this theme, and downloaded it over at vbulletin.org. However, being brand new to VB (and well, just new altogether with my own forum on the web) I think I made a mistake somewhere.

The one over there vs. the one here.... are they different? Has this one been modified for 3.7.3 vs. the other? I just wonder because my problem is when you hit "go advanced" under a post, I get a security error. Same for deleting, merging, moving posts. Should I be upgrading, and if so, how do I go about that?

I even get the same message here when I have this theme up, and hit "go advanced." Is it me?

Thanks so much in advance!

Yikes, there does seem to be a security token missing somewhere. It didn't show up on my development board when I was updating this theme.

Give me a day or two to get to the bottom of this and I'll get back to you here.

Thank you so much. I just love this theme!

I found the fix! It was a piece of missing code in the showthread template.
Give me a couple of minutes, and I'll post the new download zip. You'll need to download it again, then just re-import the xml file, overwriting the old one.

Peggy

Ok it's ready for you. Now I'll go fix the release on vb.org.

I have a problem with this skin.. when my user click on the usercp it takes them to this site.

Peggy

That's odd.

The navbar code for this style can be found in the header template. Look for this code -
<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="usercp.php$session[sessionurl_q]">$vbphrase[user_cp]</a></td>

See the part in red? Change that to your address/usercp.php

You shouldn't ever have to do this. The code above is perfectly fine, so I don't know what the culprit is. But this should fix it.
