The Moondancer (Celebrate)

This theme has been upgraded from 3.6x to 3.7.3.

Celebrate the spirit of Christmas with the "Moondancer".

Click on the "Install" button on the right of this post, then download the zip file to your computer and extract it (I put it on my desktop, it's easier to remember where I put it. I do suggest moving the zip after installation to a folder on your computer so you have it as a back-up - just in case ;) ).
Open your ftp client to your server. Go to your forum's images folder, open it, and create a styles folder.
Next, upload the celebrate folder via FTP to the styles folder that you created, so that your image path is images/styles/celebrate/buttons, for example.
After you've uploaded the images, open your admin control panel on your forum, and import the xml file, by going to Styles & Templates > Download / Upload styles > Import Style XML File.
Click on the Browse button, locate the celebrate-style.xml file, and double-click it so that it loads in that box, then hit the Import button.

As an added bonus, in the zip file, you'll find a folder that says snowfall effect (I think).
This will add a very light snowfall to your forumhome only. :D
Credit Evil Ernie (http://www.vbhackers.com/members/ev%2521l%2Bern%2521e/), at vBHackers (http://www.vbhackers.com/) for allowing me to use his snowfall mod with my holiday themes.

You'll find a blank header and buttons, in the zip file in a folder named "Blanks", for editing. If you need help, just holler.

I do really like this theme. I'm tempted to add some shopping bags in my standard header graphic and debut this one on Black Friday. <g>

The themes are really great Peggy.

@ goldendox - here's your header for Moondancer. My apologies that it took so long.

You know, I just thanked you for creating this beautiful holiday skin. Something made me look at the other posts and there was my logo that you did long ago. I must be losing it as I had totally forgotten that request, but you didn't! You rock, Peggy! Thank you, again!

Peg, how do you move the whole "what's going on" stuff to the top? I will also be having my mods looking for the top portion of navbar that includes "home," forums," "quicklinks," "faq," and all that. Any help in moving those would be greatly appreciated.

Yikes. I hate seeing the what's going on box at the top of the forum. It turns people away.

But.... where do you want the WGO box relocated to?

Also, where are you moving the navbar to?

Really? Okay, maybe I'll reconsider. But if in the event I want to put it right underneath the navbar, where do I move it from (and to)?

The top level of my "smartbrown" navbar would go in the same place in your beautiful skin, which a lot of people happily woke up to today. I'm getting a lot of raves! http://www.thedachshundnetwork.com/vbb

Thanks, Peggy.

Well, one thing you always have to keep in mind is that the first thing your members/visitors see, is also the first thing the search engine spiders see. Do you really want them to index your WGO box content in the search engines? Or do you want them to index your forum content? The first might bring you visitors but it's highly unlikely that they'll become members.

At any rate, here are the instructions for my styles. I can't promise that it's the same for other styles. It depends on how they are coded.

Open the FORUMHOME template and find
<!-- what's going on box -->

Highlight this, and everything all the way down to, and including,
<!-- end what's going on box -->

After highlighting this, right-click on it and select CUT.

Now go up to the top of the FORUMHOME template and find
$navbar

Just beneath this code, right-click and select PASTE. This will place the WGO box beneath the navigation bar.

Then save.

omg, you just made this sound so easy. But in light of your reasoning, which made perfect sense, I probably won't do it now.

I had asked someone who's almost as good as you with the vbb to write an easy, step by step dummies downloadable ebook on how to do such customizations. You would make some money doing that, Peggy, and I'd be the first to buy. Anything you can't find in the vbb manual would go in the ebook; ie skin customizations, updates after an upgrade (which I haven't a clue how to do)---stuff like that. Would you consider it?

Meant to say, thanks for your help.

hmmmmmm that could be something to consider.

In the meantime, this is something that I'll add to our Tutorials section, as there have been quite a few people having this problem with the category/forum issue lately.

And you're welcome :)
