Celebrating the spirit of the upcoming Christmas holiday.

By popular request, I've upgraded Blue Christmas to 3.7.3. If you used this style last Christmas you'll see that I changed a few images on the forumhome page.

Blue Christmas is XHTML 1.0 Transitional (http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.themesbydesign.net%2Ffo rums%2Findex.php%3Fstyleid%3D111&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0)
Contains a "thanks" button for those who use the Post Thank You mod.
Contains instructions to make a snowfall affect on your forumhome.

Demo (http://www.themesbydesign.net/forums/index.php?styleid=111)

Click on the "Install" button on the right of this post, then download the zip file to your computer and extract it (I put it on my desktop, it's easier to remember where I put it!).
Open your ftp client to your server. Go to your forum's images folder, open it, and create a styles folder.
Next, upload the cmas folder via FTP to your server, into the styles folder, so that your image path is images/styles/cmas/buttons, for example.
After you've uploaded the folder, open your admin control panel on your forum, and import the xml file, by going to Styles & Templates > Download / Upload styles > Import Style XML File.
Click on the Browse button, locate the bluecmas-style.xml, and double-click it so it loads in that box, then hit the Import button.

You'll find a Blank Images folder in the zip file, with a blank header and buttons, for easy editing.

Enjoy! :rose:

Hi Peggy,

It's been a while since I've been here but your forum is looking great as usual :)

I am looking for a Christmas skin but each time I click on the 'Demo' link it takes me back to the original screen and I can't see it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry Joy, we were fiddling around with some settings for our new newsletter, and an 'oooopsie' happened.

You should be able to see it all now.

Hi Peggy :)

I like this theme, but as a habbo fansite, we've got to be really colourful. I've used Chris's xmas theme, but it doesn't have a Forumhome template in it for putting the snow in (which I wished to utilize)

I'm not too confident with editing these sorts of things, can you help out?

Website: http://mybobbaforum.net/index.php?styleid=10

Thanks!

zombietom

you can just add the code on the quick edit page --ACP>Styles & Templates> Style Manager> your theme to edit (click on "GO"> header --just add the code to the header (top box) at the very top and then save.
If you have the Snowing file loaded into your root directory it will now snow.
If you need help and peggy or chris don't have the time i can do it .
thanks and good luck.

Hagg!s
11-20-2008, 10:57 AM
That worked perfectly, thanks!

One issue, is the themes too white now lol, might edit the background colours but not sure what will go well :S

zombietom
11-20-2008, 11:03 AM
No problem - i like that theme very well and have it installed on my site as well.
You can play around with the background setting and maybe adjust it to your liking.
You can add more snow as well --just go to the snowingjs file and edit it --toward the top is the setting --i bumped mine up to 200 and the snowing pouring now...lol

Hagg!s
11-20-2008, 11:06 AM
is there any way to make the snow thicker?

I've coloured a light blue colour to it, a sort of sky-reflecting snow, i need to go even lighter though, but its getting there :)

zombietom
11-20-2008, 11:11 AM
if you increase that first option in the snowingjs file it will increase the amount of snow

Hagg!s
11-20-2008, 11:22 AM
Yeah I got that, put it at 120, but is there a way to increase the size of each individual flake?

zombietom
11-20-2008, 11:27 AM
no -there is no way --other than to find a snowingjs script that has bigger flakes --you can fine them on the web --i have one but it is for a vb program and it might not work as a stand alone.
search on google

zombietom
11-20-2008, 11:31 AM
Peggy or Chris may have one with bigger flakes --you might check with them as well.

Peggy
11-20-2008, 11:48 AM
Nope I don't have one with bigger flakes. There are some on the internet, you can find them by googling "snow on website".

Thanks for helping out tom :)

Hi, again lol.

Ok so I think I managed to change the colour of them, but no matter what I set the number of flakes at, I still only see a couple. Does anyone know why this is? Should I change the timer too?

Peggy
11-20-2008, 03:38 PM
they fall very slowly, and unless you make them dark, they are hard to see. Much better on a darker style.

Hi Peggy, well I'm about ready to try install blue Christmas weeeeeeeeeee.:D

Could I please have my group name the same as the header....(in red, and same style and size as your title on the skin)..... if possible.

I'm going to try install it myself, and put "shih tzu friends".... under little christmas, would it be possible for me to do that? or is it difficult to move around ? lol

If you here screaming from over the pond I'm messing it up.:o

Hey Tom, I'd love to try the larger flakes if you don't mind.Oh and a question... do larger, and faster flakes slow the forum down much?.
TIA
Lynn

zombietom
11-29-2008, 11:52 AM
yes it will slow it down a little but you can cut back on the amount of flakes and it is alright --

henlyn

Hi Kris, what did you do ?
Lynn

Kris
11-30-2008, 09:09 PM
Our normal logo is 3 birds on a signpost, with a sunny background, and bright green grass. So I popped into PhotoShop, hid the sunny sky, and added snow to a new layer on top of my logo.

You can see the original logo on our home page, and the "tweaked" one on the forum home page.

I can't say enough how much I love your Styles! We use several of them. I have Blue Christmas set as our default right now.

BUT I do have a slight dilema. I have inadvertently tweaked something somewhere and now all of the styles stretch to 100% width of the page. I really liked when I first installed them they only went out to 90% I think it was. You could see the background image beside the tables, at least. I've looked at the SyleVars and the width is set at 90% in there, but the tables still flow out to fill the screen at 100%. What else can I do to fix this so it does NOT fill the screen?

Thanks so much!

My forum is found at http://kinzcommunity.com/index.php

EDIT: Come to think of it, there is a possibility something happened when we upgraded to vBulletin 3.7.4 ..... What do you think?

EDIT AGAIN: (I hope I'm posting in the correct place) My threads are displaying properly with space to the left and right, but not my Forum Home page...

Loving it!

Ready to turn it on as a default but noticed the much beloved exclamation point and the message "Line 15 Char 4 Yahoo.Util.Dom.get(...) is null or not an object "

I'm sure it's something I did.. I just don't know what... Any ideas?

Thanks. Post a link to your site if you would, I'd love to see Blue Christmas with the bigger flakes if you got it installed.

I turned on the snow on our site, and the members all blamed me when it started snowing in their areas. LOL. Um, it's December?

I have it installed on ClothDiaperNation.com, personalized to our forum. The funniest thing is that some of my members said they thought they were having some sort of problems with their minds or their eyes when they first saw the snow. They all LOVE the theme though. Thanks so much!

Peggy
12-03-2008, 07:30 PM
yeah. the snow is really meant for dark styles. Originally I had it only on my Moondancer style. But people wanted it on this one too, so I made it available. It doesn't show up well unless you make the flakes a dark color, but then it doesn't look like snow.

Have got Blue Christmas on (thank you Peggy:rose:) and its lovely, I love it,
have not put it on for the users yet because I can't get the snow to work:rolleyes:

Help, I added the snow.js to httpdocs/forum...added the code just under <head> in FORUMHOME of acp, and not a single flake of snow:no:

Peggy

On this style, the snow is a bit difficult to see. I'll look at it after dinner.

Dippy
12-04-2008, 05:19 PM
Peggy, hands up, its me! :frog:I read that it only shows on forum home page, but didn't take that information in:no: so I am guessing, when I add it properly (I have just put theme on a hidden forum to show the other backstagers first) to the main site, it will snow on the forum home page

*have slapped self*

Is there a way to get it on other pages by any chance?

(I'm off to bed now, its half 10 in England, and I can't keep my eyes open

zombietom
12-04-2008, 05:54 PM
Yes --it can be added to all parts of your forum --i have it on mine that way and i did it for someone else on here as well.

you just need to add the snow.js to both the root dir. and into your forums dir and it will casue it to snow everywhere.
No code change or anything. :)

Open the files for your style, find the Forumhome Templates, double click on that, and you'll see FORUMHOME. Double click on that, find
<head>
and place the snow code from the text file, just below that, and save.

What template did you put the code in?
